Morasha Teacher Preparation Institute – Are you interested in becoming a Jewish educator but have never taught before? Are you currently a classroom teacher and want to increase your knowledge base and skill level in Judaic or pedagogic areas of study? The Rabbi Chaim Cohenson Morasha Teacher Preparation Institute, a flagship program of SAJES, provides Jewish adults with the skills and content knowledge needed to become successful classroom teachers in a congregational school setting. Morasha graduates earn professional certification as a Religious School Educator from Touro College. To date, more than 300 Jewish adults have graduated from Morasha to teach in schools throughout Long Island.
During a two–year course of study, Morasha empowers participants from all backgrounds to transform Jewish knowledge into viable, exciting classroom lessons. You will also become part of a warm and nurturing community of learners. No prior Hebrew or Judaic knowledge is required as a pre-requisite for entry. Morasha also attracts Hebrew-speakers who want to become certified teachers. A special advanced course in Hebrew pedagogy has been designed to meet the needs of these learners with a rich Hebrew background. Suri Jacknis is the Morasha Director.
